The last time that FC Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain faced off in the UEFA Champions League, there were plenty of questionable calls in the match. This time around in their Champions League round of 16 first leg bout, one can make the case that Barca may have benefitted from a debatable call from the officials in the match.
Following a Frenkie De Jong run into the penalty box, Presnel Kimpembe and Layvin Kurzawa trailed right behind the Dutchman in an effort to prevent him from maintaining possession deep in PSG’s defensive third. However, Kurzawa went on to clip De Jong from behind.
VAR granted the penalty to Barca, which Lionel Messi stepped up to score another Champions League goal against PSG.
