Neymar’s suffered a lesion to the left adductor in Paris Saint-Germain’s 1-0 victory over Stade Malherbe Caen in the Coupe de France. The 29-year-old’s latest injury will once again keep him out of a UEFA Champions League Round of 16 fixture as Les Parisien’s travel to the Camp Nou to take on FC Barcelona.

Rather than pointing at the officiating or the dirty play from opponents, most French media outlets and pundits blame the Brazil international’s injury on himself for his showboating flare.

However, in Spain, El Chiringuito de Jugones host Josep Pedrerol is coming to Neymar’s defense. In various segments, the Spanish journalist has stated that football needs to protect artists like Neymar. Furthermore, he says that PSG manager Mauricio Pochettino needs to come to his defense.

“A second division coach has just called a player who has been injured for a month out of work a crybaby,” Pedrerol said. “Who defends him? Let Pochettino come out to defend him; let us protect the artists. I hear little of that, and Neymar is one of the best in the world.”
