The UEFA Champions League Round of 16 clash between Paris Saint-Germain and FC Barcelona is about a week away.
Although supporters from both clubs have begun to look ahead, the same can’t be said for the players, at least on the capital club side. After Les Parisiens defeated Olympique de Marseille 2-0, PSG forward Kylian Mbappé spoke postgame with Canal Plus.
Canal Supporters relayed the France international’s words, where he stated that they could overlook Ligue 1 and focus on Europe in years past. However, with the race being so close and PSG having dropped points, Mbappé states that the league is as important this season with it being a tight race.
“No, we don’t talk about it in the locker room, because unfortunately, we left points all over the place, so we have to focus on the next match each time. The other years, we could have focused on the Champions League, but here we have to be focused on the championship because we did not make a difference,” Mbappé said.
“We have to focus on the championship, but it may not be worse because we will play with intensity. And by dint of playing matches with intensity, you arrive in the Champions League, and you are less surprised.”
