Paris Saint-Germain will be without Neymar Jr. for their significant UEFA Champions League Round of 16 clash against FC Barcelona. Ahead of the matchup, Barça defender Jordi Alba spoke to the media, where one of the questions that the Spanish defender is the absence of the 29-year-old.
Although plenty of football fans would’ve wanted to see the Brazil international make his return to the Camp Nou, Alba doesn’t hide his preference of not having to deal with Neymar out on the pitch for the first leg.
“I’m not going to lie, I think it’s better that players like him don’t play for our opponent,” Alba said. “It is an important absence for them, like that of Di Maria who brings a lot defensively and offensively. PSG has good players and the people who play will be at or near the same level. It will be a Round of 16 dispute, which will be played in detail. We also have significant absences but those who train are doing good things.”
