After Paris Saint-Germain picked up the 4-1 first-leg win over FC Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16, many praised Kylian Mbappé for his hat-trick performance.
With no Neymar Jr. or Ángel Di María in the starting eleven for the capital club, there was discussion whether the 22-year-old could carry the PSG attack. Once Les Parisiens fell 1-0 to Barça, the Mbappé show at the Camp Nou began that led to the favorable result.
BT Sport football pundit Rio Ferdinand had glowing words for the France international.
“Mbappé is alone; he is alone among the young players. People forget that he’s 22, that he won the World Cup (at the age of 19, editor’s note), that he played in the French championship, that he was huge in the League champions,” Ferdinand
“I have the impression that he is the one who will take the throne, the crown, and that he is alone at the moment. It’s up to everyone to catch up now. This guy will take the throne from Messi and Ronaldo when they are done with him.”
"Mbappe is on his own." 📈

"He's the guy who's going to take the throne." 🤴
"He's in with a good shout for the Ballon d'Or this year." 🥇
