Video: Barça Manager Ronald Koeman Discusses Defending PSG’s Kylian Mbappé

With no Neymar Jr., Paris Saint-Germain will rely heavily on Kylian Mbappé. The 22-year-old will have the spotlight under him as many wait to see if he can lead the capital squad against FC Barcelona and Lionel Messi.

Ahead of the UEFA Champions League clash, Barça manager Ronald Koeman spoke about the matchup between Messi and Mbappé.

“It’s not a duel between Messi and Mbappé; it’s a duel between two teams. On the one hand, there is Lionel Messi, the best player in the world, and we need him in great shape to win in these huts,” Koeman said.

“It’s the same for PSG with Mbappé. He’s a speedy player who can complicate things for us. It will be a good game, and these players can provide a lot of fun for football fans.”

Furthermore, with Koeman not having to worry about Neymar Jr., he can make a gameplan on how to stop Mbappé; however, the Barça manager states that he’s not keen on putting one player on him and will likely do it by committee.

“I am not in favor of putting someone in individual marking on a player. We know how we can play. When we have the ball, we have to stay well organized for the moment when we lose possession. It will be an important aspect of the game,” Koeman said.
