Report: Verratti ‘On Track’ to Play Against Barcelona This Week

Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Marco Verratti is now ‘on track’ to feature in the team’s upcoming UEFA Champions League Round of 16 first leg fixture against FC Barcelona, according to a report from Le Parisien.

Verratti has missed PSG’s last two matches due to a right hip bruise injury. The team’s coaching staff has been cautious with the midfielder’s injury, especially as the side is set to face off against the Catalan powerhouse.

Verratti continues to make promising progress from his injury. He recently took part in the team’s scheduled training session following the fixture against OGC Nice, per the report. The Italian midfielder went on to complete the training session without any setbacks.

For now, Verratti is expected to take part in PSG’s next scheduled training session on Monday. If he is able to complete it without any setbacks, he will then be slated to feature against Barca.

From there, the team’s coaching staff will then decide on whether he is ready to start in this showdown fixture or if it would be better off to bring him off the bench instead.
