Report: Kylian Mbappé’s Contract Extension Could Include Clause That Will Allow Him to Leave to Real Madrid

Real Madrid continues to pursue Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappé; however, many clubs are taking a hit to their financial revenue with the coronavirus pandemic.

Furthermore, Los Blancos are in the middle of renovating the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium. As a result, with other needs on the squad and remodeling their stadium, it’s tough to see Real Madrid having funds to purchase Mbappé this summer.

Then add in that Neymar Jr. is on the verge of extending his contract until 2026. There’s no doubt that the Brazil international is in the ear of his teammate to extend his stay with Les Parisiens too.

Diario AS reports that PSG has offered contracts that match Neymar’s €37-million annual salary, which is a €16-million raise from Mbappé’s €21-million yearly wages. If Mbappé were to listen to Neymar and extend, his contract extension could include a release clause that would allow him to sign with Real Madrid.

However, the Spanish club might not be able to provide Mbappé with an increase in annual wages. Diario AS adds that due to Los Blancos having a salary cap on wages, they can only offer a contract that matches what he currently makes with PSG.

In the end, Real Madrid will need to rely on the aura of playing for arguably the biggest club in the world, considering that it would not be a smart financial move for Mbappé.
