Barcelona has joined the likes of Paris Saint-Germain in the early interest of impending free agent and Liverpool midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum, according to a report from the Italian-based outlet Tuttosport (via CalcioMercato).
As mentioned, Wijnaldum is set to become a free agent over the upcoming summer transfer window. This will make him eligible to sign with any club on a free transfer agreement.
Wijnaldum could still come to terms on a new contract with Liverpool. But at the moment, other clubs are beginning to show an interest in signing Wijnaldum.
Le Parisien recently noted of PSG’s possible interest in the Dutch talent, especially as the French powerhouse may likely turn to the free agent market to improve the team over the upcoming summer window.
For Barca, this is not the first time that the Catalan giants have shown a great interest in signing Wijnaldum. With the arrival of Ronald Koeman as Barca’s new manager over the recent summer window, the Catalan powerhouse was regularly linked with a possible move for Wijnaldum, but no such deal came to fruition in the end.
Inter Milan is another club that is now being linked with Wijnaldum, per the report. However, there is no word on the extent of the Italian side’s interest in the current Liverpool midfielder.
Wijnaldum has been one of Liverpool’s more reliable midfield talents this season thanks to his 25 Premier League appearances over the campaign.
