Ahead of the first leg fixture between FC Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16, there’s some side news connecting both clubs.
France Football (via Canal Supporters) reports that Barça is having discussions with PSG youth product Kays Ruiz-Atil. The Spanish club joins Chelsea FC in their pursuit of the 18-year-old. With former Les Parisiens manager Thomas Tuchel taking over for The Blues, the German tactician wants to raid his former employer’s youth system.
Meanwhile, Barça does have a connection with Ruiz-Atil as the teenager spent some time in their academy from 2009 to 2015. Furthermore, after PSG poached Xavi Simons from their system, the Catalan club probably wants to do the same.
As for Ruiz-Atil, his contract expires in June, and thus far, he isn’t content with his role in the PSG sporting project. As a result, he’s seeking a new adventure, one that will guarantee him a prominent role, whether it’s Barça remains to be seen.
