PSG Mercato: Arsène Wenger Advises Paris SG to Not Pursue Lionel Messi; Wants Them Use Their Money to Keep Their Two Superstars

The Lionel Messi to Paris Saint-Germain rumor continues to circle media outlets and be a topic of conversation. After the capital club’s 4-1 first-leg victory over FC Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16, the rumor continues to live one.

Barça’s latest lackluster performance raises the question of whether or not Messi will remain with the Spanish side when his contract expires in June. Even if the Argentina international decides that he wants out, Les Parisiens shouldn’t present themselves as an option, states former Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger.

During his appearance on beIN SPORTS (via La Capital), the 71-year-old made his opinion known that the French giants should invest all their money and resources into keeping Neymar Jr. and Kylian Mbappé.

“The hiring of Lionel Messi requires a great investment, and Paris Saint Germain should focus on investing all their money in keeping their two best players,” Wenger said.

“Mbappé is 22 years old, and he is perhaps the best player in the world or probably the best player in the world in the future, when you have the two best players in the world, adding Neymar, the best thing you can do is try to keep them.”

According to various reports, the Brazil international seems to have a deal to extend his contract with PSG. However, the more difficult extension will be the 22-year-old’s, who after his hat-trick performance has Real Madrid supporters salivating and urging president Florentino Pérez to pay whatever it cost to bring him to Los Blancos
