Kylian Mbappe has officially been handed a one-match suspension by the LFP’s Disciplinary Committee for Paris Saint-Germain’s upcoming Ligue 1 fixture against Bordeaux, as announced by Ligue 1’s official website.
Mbappe earned a yellow card during PSG’s recent league fixture against AS Monaco. This gave the French forward three yellow cards over a 10 match span.
The LFP’s Disciplinary Committee elected to review Mbappe’s case and proceeded by officially suspending him for one match.
While Mbappe will not be available to face Bordeaux, he will be eligible to feature in PSG’s upcoming league fixture against Dijon.
In the big picture, it will be interesting to see how PSG manager Mauricio Pochettino plans to handle Mbappe’s playing time minutes ahead of the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 second leg fixture against Barcelona.
PSG will have a Coupe de France fixture just days before the Barca clash. Thus, Pochettino will be faced with a dilemma on either providing Mbappe with minutes in this domestic cup match or elect to play the forward against Barca on 11 days rest assuming that he features in the Dijon fixture.
