After Kylian Mbappé’s hat-trick performance against FC Barcelona in the first-leg victory, the pressure is on for Paris Saint-Germain to keep their superstar. The 22-year-old’s contract expires in 2022, and talks are ongoing to see if both parties can agree on an extension.
The elephant in the room all season is the need to extend their two superstar players in Neymar Jr. and Mbappé. It appears as though the Brazil international will remain in Paris, but the France international remains the most difficult of the two.
Furthermore, the sharks like Real Madrid are waiting to pounce if Mbappé decides to move on from Les Parisiens. Reports suggest that Los Blancos want one of Mbappé or Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland.
Nonetheless, one person in the French government is vocal and hopes that the PSG forward remains in France. Roxana Mărăcineanu, the Minister of Sports of France, spoke on France Info, where she stated her thoughts on Mbappé hopefully staying with PSG.
“Kylian, stay in France. We want to keep seeing you play like this. We need you. The public needs you; PSG needs you,” Mărăcineanu said.
🗣 "Kylian, reste en France", lance Roxana Maracineanu. "Le public a besoin de toi, le PSG a besoin de toi !"
