Kalimuendo Reflects on What It Was Like to Learn from Neymar and Icardi at PSG Last Season

RC Lens forward Arnaud Kalimuendo has emerged as one of the more promising prospects in French football.

The PSG prospect is currently on a season-long loan stint with Lens and so far this season, he is making the most of his run with the side. The French forward has scored five goals in all competitions this season, including one in the Coupe de France competition.

There are many factors that can attribute to his success this season. But for Kalimuendo, the forward credits multiple PSG stars from last season as to why he is contributing well so far.

Kalimuendo spoke to Goal France about what it was like to learn from some of PSG superstars last season.

“I learned a lot last season alongside the great players we know like Neymar, Mbappé, Icardi, Cavani too,” Kalimuendo said. “I gained control in the face of goal, that’s something I was trying to learn from them. Their seriousness, their professionalism, these are things that we find. When you meet these kinds of players, you pay attention to everything. It’s something great for me as a young player.

“I still think a lot about what they may have told me. I think about what they did in training, what they would have done in my place on such and such an action.”

As mentioned, Kalimuendo is currently on loan from PSG. For now, he remains unsure on his footballing future, whether he will return to PSG next season or stay on with Lens.

“I have matured a lot in my game but I still have to work, every day, because I have areas for improvement,” Kalimuendo said.

“Everything in its time. The most important thing is to finish the season well, to finish as high as possible and to continue to have fun with my teammates. We’ll see what happens.”

PSG officials will surely continue to monitor his performances over the remainder of the season.
