Icardi Has Been in Top Form Under Pochettino This Season

Paris Saint-Germain forward Mauro Icardi made the start for the team in its recent Ligue 1 fixture against OGC Nice. On the match, Icardi did not score a goal even though he recorded multiple shots in the match. However, he did assist Moise Kean for what ended up being the game-winning goal.

The Argentine continues to maintain his current top form under Mauricio Pochettino.

Overall, Icardi has totaled for seven goal contributions in seven matches played since Pochettino’s arrival as the new manager of the club. This has included four goals and three assists over these select matches, including a goal in the Trophee des Champions final win against Olympique de Marseille.

This has been a complete light switch for Icardi this season. Under now-former manager Thomas Tuchel, Icardi dealt with multiple injuries that sidelined him for much of the first half of the campaign. As a result, he only logged two total goal contributions in four months of action under Tuchel this season.

Pochettino will surely look for Icardi to maintain his current form over the remainder of the season, especially in key league and UEFA Champions League matches.
