Mauricio Pochettino spoke with the media at his press conference ahead of the capital club’s fixture against FC Lorient.
One of the first questions that the Argentine tactician answered is the funny situation with Ángel Di María nutmegging Pochettino during a training session.
“I like to be involved in training. But not for small bridges (smiles). I was very, very pissed off, but that’s the risk when you want to play with them. They have an incredible quality, and me, at 48 years old, my legs sometimes go slower than my thoughts. This is my problem,” Pochettino said.
“I can’t stop them from posting it on Instagram afterward. But it was funny. It’s important to have contact with the players; they know very well that we are the coaches, and they are the players. But there is a very good atmosphere, and that’s the risk. But next time, I’m going to kill Angel (laughs).”
The next questions were more on the serious side as Pochettino discussed the capital club attack. Furthermore, he touched on the balance that the squad needs to have on offense and defense.
“I do with the team and the squad that I have for each game and not by thinking of a particular game,” Pochettino said. “I am looking for an offensive and defensive balance. We are looking for our playing identity with the players and the talents we have.”
Finally, Pochettino touched on whether he has an ideal starting eleven since the Argentine manager now has a month under his belt with the PSG squad.
“Every week and for every match, the players train to have a chance to play. We are a staff open to the idea of making changes in the team. There are always opportunities to improve the team,” Pochettino said.
“All players, whether they participate less or more in matches, must be ready to play. Then we will make our choices to improve the team and its performance.”
