Kylian Mbappé scored two goals against Montpellier HSC as the 22-year-old needed this type of performance to help regain his confidence. After the victory, the France international spoke with Téléfoot la Chaîne, discussing his recent form and his future with the capital club.
It’s no secret that Mbappé has struggled for most of the season and hasn’t looked like himself. The PSG forward stated in his postgame comments that he didn’t feel like his usual self.
“The truth that I was not good. Normal that people wonder. It’s okay when you don’t score when you get people used to scoring. I know my country. I just had to work. I was not in physical condition.”
Afterward, the French media outlet asked Mbappé about his future with the club as contract extension talks remain ongoing.
“We are discussing with the club. I am also thinking. I’m going to think about what I want to do in the next few years, where I want to be. I feel good here. I am very happy here and always have been,” Mbappé said.
“The supporters, the club have always helped me. And just for that, I’ll always be grateful to the club. It’s really a reflection, not a willingness to buy time or anything like that. If I sign, it’s to stay. That’s why it gives rise to reflection. But yes, a choice will have to be made soon.”
