Paris Saint-Germain beat Montpellier HSC 4-0, and now Mauricio Pochettino’s team has a 3-point advantage, being the leader of Ligue 1.
The Argentine tactician returned to the bench after quarantining for a week following a positive test for COVID-19, where he was delighted on the microphone of Téléfoot la Chaîne.
Pochettino spoke about the performance of his players and about the line-up that he has managed.
“It was a very professional performance from the team tonight. It was a bit difficult initially, but the goalkeeper’s expulsion helped control the game, the victory is more than logical. The 4-4-2? We are always in the process of getting to know each other. It’s about getting the best performance.”
Kylian Mbappé is still in negotiations with PSG for the renewal of his contract, and after his performance involving two goals, Pochettino praised the 22-year-old.
“We know the qualities of him. Teams and players have different shapes. He is still a young player. There was no doubt that with his work and his involvement, the goals and assists would return. I’m happy for Mbappé. He needed to find joy again and will continue to improve. Your contract from him? He was positive in his statement. He is an essential player, and I hope he stays for a long time.”
The PSG manager gave a hopeful argument about the injuries of Keylor Navas and Marquinhos.
“For Keylor Navas, it was a hard blow for the warm-up. Marquinhos suffered a small discomfort in the adductor. I don’t think he’s that bad. “
Pochettino also had praise for Neymar Jr., as the Brazilian international scored a goal and author of a great game in his 100th match with Les Parisiens.
“The offensive-defensive balance is essential. Sometimes you can lose it with so many talented players. I am very happy with Neymar’s investment. What he has been doing for the last few weeks is very important.”
