Stat Shows That Verratti Continues to be PSG’s Workhorse Midfielder

Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Marco Verratti has had his ups and downs this season. For one, he dealt with a muscle injury that kept him out of several key fixtures. However, when he is available, the Italian talent remains as the team’s most important midfielder.

For one, Verratti is currently averaging 83 passes per game this season, according to Opta. This number for Verratti ranks most among all players within Europe’s top five leagues this season.

Verratti has made 10 appearances in Ligue 1 so far this season. The Italian has continued to conduct midfield play at a high level. And at this point in his career, availability is essentially the only question regarding his status with the team. He has had his fair share of injuries and suspensions over the years.

The 28-year-old midfielder will continue league play with the rest of his PSG teammates later this week in an away league fixture against AS Saint-Etienne.
