Paris Saint-Germain players returned from their Christmas break for the first scheduled training session under new manager Mauricio Pochettino. However, one player did not take part in the training session due to a positive coronavirus test, according to PSG’s official Twitter account.
The club did not reveal as to which player tested positive for COVID-19, but RMC Sport notes that it was Rafinha. The Brazilian midfielder will now self-isolate and follow health protocols, which will likely include being away from the team for a 14-day period.
For the moment, there is no word whether any other player tested positive for the coronavirus. This is promising news at the least considering that the club had an outbreak within the team earlier this season with numerous players missing action as a result.
If Rafinha is subjected to the 14-day isolation period, the Brazilian midfielder will miss several Ligue 1 games and the Trophee des Champions final against Olympique de Marseille next week.
Rafinha has made 11 appearances in league play this season to go along with three assists.
