Report: Florenzi Could Earn a Start in the Trophee Des Champions Final

Paris Saint-Germain defender Alessandro Florenzi just recently made his return to action with the team during its 3-0 home Ligue 1 win against Brest. Florenzi had just recovered from an ankle injury and wound up playing in a mere four minutes in the fixture.

With the Italian defender now available to feature with the team once again, he is now a contender to start for the team in the upcoming Trophee des Champions final against Olympique de Marseille, according to a report from Le Parisien.

Florenzi is fit now and as the report adds, the Italian took part in running drills following the fixture against Brest.

In Florenzi’s absence, Colin Dagba had earned the start over the first two debut fixtures of Mauricio Pochettino’s run as PSG’s new manager.

When Florenzi does go on to regularly earn playing time again, it will be noteworthy to watch whether Pochettino has plans to utilize the defender higher up the pitch to hand him with more attacking responsibilities.
