Report: Arsenal Joins Leeds United in Their Pursuit of PSG Midfielder

Julian Draxler’s time with Paris Saint-Germain is coming to an end whether he departs this winter transfer window or in June when his contract runs out.

Many expect the Germany international to leave in June due to various clubs not affording his monthly wages. Furthermore, it gives the 27-year-old all the power to pick and choose his next destination. However, there is one club that is reportedly tracking Draxler that could afford his salary.

According to France Football (via Foot Mercato), Arsenal FC, who have long tracked Draxler, is eyeing the midfielder for a potential reinforcement.

There’s no clarification on whether they’ll pursue him this winter transfer window or wait until the summer to bring Draxler to North London. However, LÉquipe (via Foot Mercato) reports that PSG is looking to recoup €40-million, so it’s in their best interest to sell Draxler this month.

Furthermore, Arsenal isn’t the only club interested in the Germany international as Leeds United is also reigniting their pursuit. Regardless The Gunners are one of the few clubs that can afford to pay his €7.2-million annual salary.

If they want Draxler and don’t want to deal with the competition when he’s available on a free transfer, the capital club could get a decent fee if they play their cards right.
