PSG Midfielder Verratti Tests Positive for Coronavirus

Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Marco Verratti has tested positive for the coronavirus, the club announced on its official Twitter account.

PSG defender Abdou Diallo also tested positive and as with Verratti, both players will now be subjected to a self-isolation period while also following the set health protocols.

This will mean that the two are now going to be away from the team for a 7-14 day period before being cleared to not only return to in-game action but also for the team’s regularly scheduled collective training sessions.

Verratti and Diallo join a long list of PSG players who have tested positive for the coronavirus this season. Overall, 15 players on the team have tested positive for the coronavirus, including the likes of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe.

PSG had a mini coronavirus outbreak earlier this season. Since then, PSG has had sporadic positive cases as well, including with players such as Rafinha.

Verratti has become a regular for new PSG manager Mauricio Pochettino while for Diallo, this will only keep him out of more fixtures in what has become an injury-plagued season.
