This news might be an indictment of how far his star has fallen, but Real Madrid has had Kylian Mbappé atop their transfer wishlist for the past four years. However, as the 2020-21 season has progressed, some people close to the club questioned putting the 22-year-old as their priority.
During an interview with Onda Cero (via Diario AS), former Real Madrid manager Jorge Valdano stated that Los Blancos should prioritize Borussia Dortmund’s, Erling Haaland. Nonetheless, Vladano thinks highly of Mbappé, but suggest that Haaland offers more in terms of scoring before going after the Paris Saint-Germain forward this summer.
“I would sign Haaland before Mbappé. He moves in small and large spaces. He scores with great regularity,” Valdano said. “Understanding that Mbappé is a star, I am very impressed with Haaland. He scores goals of all types.”
The coronavirus pandemic has affected the financial revenue of clubs worldwide. As a result, if Real Madrid dreams of a Haaland and Mbappé summer, they’ll need to offload players to make this a reality.
As for the capital club, their contract talks with Mbappé remain ongoing. Furthermore, in a recent interview, the France international stated that he’s thinking very hard about staying in Paris and will decide on his future shortly.
