‘Mauricio Requires A Lot of Intensity’ — Herrera Provides Insight on Pochettino’s Early Run With PSG

Mauricio Pochettino has not even been manager of Paris Saint-Germain for a full two weeks, but midfielder Ander Herrera is already lauding him for his managerial approach.

Pochettino has not come into the role of being PSG’s new manager by dominating opponents right off the start. Instead, it is a work in progress for the team as the players continue to assimilate to Pochettino’s preferred style of play and tactics.

Herrera is one player who simply loves the sport of football. The Spanish midfielder is already impressed with Pochettino’s early run with the club more so because of the Argentine’s passion for the game. More so, Herrera is likening Pochettino to one current Premier League manager.

Herrera talked about his early impressions of the former Tottenham manager in speaking to Telefoot (via Le10Sport).

“Mauricio requires a lot of intensity,” Herrera said. “Every day he demands a lot of work. I have already worked with an Argentinian coach like Marcelo Bielsa, it’s a bit like that, the passion for football. 24 hours a day he thinks about football. I love football, I love to work, I love to learn new systems, new philosophies.”

The Spanish talent played under Bielsa during his time with La Liga side Athletic Bilbao. And Pochettino is a noted admirer of Bielsa’s managerial style and tactical preference, so it is not a surprise that Herrera is seeing some similarities between the two highly touted Argentine managers.
