‘I Think Pochettino Will Have Headaches’ – French Football Analyst on the PSG Manager Having to Decide Between Kean and Icardi

After missing a substantial time due to injury, Mauro Icardi is back, and through two fixtures, the 27-year-old is looking like his Inter Milan self.

The Argentina international returned over the weekend as a substitute against Stade Brestois, where he scored a goal and assisted on the third goal. In the Trophée des Champions Icardi scored the opening strike to give the capital club the early lead.

If Icardi continues this form, then PSG manager Mauricio Pochettino will have a difficult choice to decide who gets the minutes at striker, especially as he begins to think about the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 matchup against FC Barcelona.

Moise Kean has held down the fort as the PSG striker, scoring nine goals in Ligue 1 and two in the Champions League. However, Icardi is a golden boot winner in Serie A and seems to be finding his form these last two fixtures.

Canal Plus football analyst Laure Boulleau doesn’t envy the decision that Pochettino will have on his hands as it will surely give him headaches, as she states in her appearance on Canal Football Club.

“There is Mbappé who can also play in front. I think Pochettino will have headaches. Afterward, as we have seen in the Champion League, I find that it will mainly be based on the mastery of PSG. Icardi is a player who expresses himself well when PSG has the ball,” Boulleau said.

“It’s true that at times when PSG arrived in the Champions League, Icardi’s lack of movement, depth, and verticality could be missing. I think having both player profiles in the workforce is interesting. But, it’s not that obvious when the high-intensity matches are going to happen.”
