The Lionel Messi to Paris Saint-Germain continues to circulate through the football media. With the capital club taking on FC Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16, those talks won’t go away.
Ángel Di María is the latest Parisien to answer whether Messi could join PSG as the 33-year-old could depart the Spanish club this summer on a free transfer during an interview with “Sportia” on TyC Sports in Argentina.
“My wife told me ‘if Leo comes, we will at least stay, and you will make him barbecue everything,” Di María said. “It would be the best. I could not ask for anything more in football.”
Di María discussing a possible arrival of Messi to the French capital will surely anger Barça. Presidential candidate Joan Laporta made his displeasure known over the matter, and he likely represents the majority of those within the club.
Nonetheless, Di María might not be here for a potential Messi arrival as the Argentina international’s contract will expire in June.
However, seeing his national team teammate signing with the Parisiens could sway the 32-year-old to extend his contract with PSG to have an opportunity to play alongside Messi at the club level.
