The new Mauricio Pochettino era is only five games old and midfielder Ander Herrera is very much a fan of the Argentine’s work so far as the new manager.
PSG has so far come away with four wins and one draw in five games under Pochettino, including the victory over Olympique de Marseille in the Trophee des Champions final.
Many have already noted several changes that Pochettino has implemented. And for Herrera, there is one noted change that he is liking so far, which revolves around the intensity of the team’s play.
Herrera recently spoke to PSG TV about Pochettino and his emphasis on upping the intensity.
“We could see that we apply pressure throughout the space, that we put a lot of intensity,” Herrera said. “It takes a lot from the players, we have to get used to it, be very focused. Not only in the matches, but also in each training session, so we are very happy.”
PSG’s call to sack now-former PSG manager Thomas Tuchel while bringing in Pochettino was one that came as a surprise to many. Herrera still very much appreciates Tuchel’s run with the team.
“It’s always different when you change coaches,” Herrera said. “It’s a different situation for everyone, but also a motivation. I don’t like to make the comparison, because I have a lot of respect for Thomas Tuchel and everything he has done at the club. We had a fantastic season.”
PSG currently stands at first place in the Ligue 1 standings.
