Former La Liga Manager Analyzes on What Pochettino Will Bring to PSG

Paris Saint-Germain’s hiring of Mauricio Pochettino to fill its vacant managerial role has excited many, including former La Liga manager Jorge Valdano.

Pochettino is coming into this role with grand tasks at hand. From its sluggish start in Ligue 1 play to the lack of a team identity, Pochettino will have much to do to revamp PSG from the bottom up.

For Valdano, he believes that the Argentine manager can turn PSG’s season around.

The former Real Madrid manager recently spoke to the Spanish-based outlet El Pais to touch on just what Pochettino will bring to this PSG side.

“A discreet guy, who favors human relationships and hates exhibitionism because he believes that the only ones who deserve to take center stage are the players,” Valdano said. “His football aspires to prominence, but it is tied neither to a system nor to a style. Its flexible intelligence is open to whatever solution your team is comfortable with and your rivals uncomfortable.

“Loyal to his team of collaborators, hard-working, meticulous, competitive, attentive to the quarry, empathetic in personal relationships. This is Mauricio Pochettino, who will have to put a feather-smooth scalpel into PSG, for the surgery that their great figures need.”

Pochettino’s tenure at PSG could be the defining run of his managerial career. The Argentine manager sure is expected to receive plenty of opportunities to pack his empty managerial trophy cabinet.
