‘We All Make Mistakes’ – Barça Presidential Candidate Is Ready to Welcome Neymar Back

After defeating Manchester United FC, Neymar Jr. mentioned in his postgame conference that he’d like to play with his former FC Barcelona teammate Lionel Messi as soon as next season.

This statement resulted in many journalists and pundits wondering how the 33-year-old find his way to the French capital and if it would work. However, Barça presidential candidate Jordi Farré is making it known that he’d welcome Neymar back to play with Messi during an interview on RAC1.

“Neymar will be welcome, but the first thing he has to do is withdraw his lawsuits, ask for forgiveness without humiliation. We all make mistakes,” Farré said. “We spoke with his entourage, and they talked about ‘coming home. Who doesn’t want the third-best player in the world on the team? There is one option, which is the ‘transfer request’. At 40-45 million euros, he would come.”

Farré seems to be running the slogan of reuniting the two South American players, stating that Messi and Neymar would favor playing at the Camp Nou. He also adds that the Argentina international doesn’t think Messi doesn’t want to leave the La Liga club.

“Messi and Neymar will play together at Barça next year,” Farré said. “I am sure that Messi does not want to leave. I spoke with his entourage, I did not progress in anything, but he told me he wanted to stay, a winning project. My plan is to extend it from one year to the next, then to create a common brand between Messi and Barça, to make it so the honorary president. He has to adapt to the current conditions at the club,” he said. So Neymar and Messi, yes, but not at any cost.”

Regardless if it’s politics or sports, candidates will make outlandish statements for people’s votes. With Barça reportedly facing a financial crisis per Diario Sport, it’s hard envisioning them being able to pay a significant fee on top of Neymar’s wages.
