Over the last 24 hours, Neymar Jr.’s comments to ESPN over perhaps playing with Lionel Messi again have occupied a lot of air time on various football media outlets. There’s plenty of discussion over this matter, including whether Messi’s potential arrival to Paris Saint-Germain will seal Kylian Mbappé’s future sale to Real Madrid.
During a segment on El Chiringuito de Jugones, Spanish journalist Tomás Roncero, if Messi were to leave FC Barcelona for PSG, it will push the France international to Los Blancos.
“If Messi goes to PSG, he pushes Mbappé to Real Madrid,” said Roncero.
If Les Parisiens want to cash in on Mbappé to help bring in funds and balance the squad, Messi provides a short-term solution. At 33-years-old he’s still performing at a high-level and could be a stop-gap until PSG’s finances are more stable due to the loss they’re enduring as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.
Once the football economy is back to normal, the capital club can pursue a younger Mbappé replacement and pay a significant transfer fee, something plenty of PSG supporters is used to seeing.
