Olympique de Marseille’s UEFA Champions League season will be coming to an end. They now set their sights on descending into the UEFA Europa League as they hope to have European football for the second half of the season.
Along with having eyes on Europa League, Marseille is within striking distance of Paris Saint-Germain as they have hopes of possibly winning Ligue 1. It’s probable to undertake the league crown from Les Parisiens as AS Monaco did in 2016-17; however, that squad had various talents that eventually went to shine elsewhere.
Nonetheless, Marseille manager André Villas-Boas spoke at a press conference about winning the league.
“Before everyone starts to say that we are a candidate for the title, I want to clarify that, in the event that PSG misses the title, we must at least be in a position to threaten them,” Villas-Boas said. “This is the most important. In this year, when things are a little unpredictable, we must take advantage of it. We see that a lot of teams are ready.”
