As Paris Saint-Germain heads into 2021, the ongoing topic now that the capital club decided to part ways with their manager Thomas Tuchel is the continuing contract extension talks with Neymar Jr. and Kylian Mbappé.
Both of their deals expire in 2022, and Les Parisiens need to extend their two superstars to either agree to new contracts or sell them to the highest bidder.
However, either player’s sale will be tricky, considering PSG will want a significant transfer sum, and the coronavirus pandemic is affecting every club’s financial situation.
According to ESPN’s Julien Laurens (via Paris Fans), the journalist states that no one in football can’t afford to buy either PSG superstar and then give them the salary they want, not even Real Madrid.
“Today, no one can afford Neymar or Mbappé. Not even Real Madrid. They don’t have the money to buy Mbappé this summer and pay the salary he wants,” Laurens said.
If Los Blancos want Mbappé this summer, they’d have to get rid of one or two significant salaries. Nonetheless, the capital club needs to extend the 22-year-old, even if it means selling him down the road because they cannot afford to lose him for free in 2022.
