Last week, Gazzetta dello Sport (via Foot Mercato) reported that Paris Saint-Germain forward Ángel Di María engaged with Atalanta BC midfielder Alejandro Darío Gómez, known as Papu Gómez, about possibly coming to the French capital.
The captain of last season’s Cinderella club that made it to the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals before losing to Les Parisiens is having a rift with manager Gian Piero Gasperini this campaign.
As a result, this marriage is likely heading towards a divorce, with Gómez leaving the Italian club. Among those interested in the 32-year-old are Inter Milan, AC Milan, and AS Roma, along with PSG.
Gazzetta Dello Sport (via Culture PSG) updated this transfer file with adding that the PSG sporting director has long had an interest in the Argentina international for “several years.”
With Gómez playing in Italy, it comes as no surprise that Leonardo is keen on him. Furthermore, with Atalanta having to sell to end the dispute between player and manager, the capital club could have him for a bargain as the Italian media outlet writes that he could depart for no less than €10-million.
The capital club needs cheap options that could help their club with the coronavirus pandemic affecting them financially, and perhaps Gómez could be an option.
