Report: PSG’s Di María Campaigns for the Transfer of Atalanta Midfielder

Last season Atalanta BC was the Cinderella story of the UEFA Champions League as they were minutes away from defeating Paris Saint-Germain to head to the competition’s semi-finals.

However, the capital club would prevail with two goals in the dying minutes of the match. This season, Atalanta is back in the Champions League and have advanced to the Round of 16, where they’ll face Real Madrid.

Despite their success in Europe, domestically, it hasn’t gone as planned for La Dea as they’re in ninth place in Serie A. Then there’s a rift between Alejandro Darío Gómez, known as Papu Gómez, and manager Gian Piero Gasperini.

As a result, Gómez could be departing the club this January window. It seems as though PSG forward Ángel Di María might be talking to his teammate on the Argentina National Team to join Les Parisiens, according to Gazzetta dello Sport (via Foot Mercato).

Gómez is 32-years-old, so he’d be a short-term solution if PSG were to go after him, but with the rift between player and manager, the Argentina international should come at a low price.
