There’s no question that Paris Saint-Germain needs to upgrade their midfield, and it’s not only with a simple addition to the position. It’s adding an impactful player that can compliment Marco Verratti.
According to Le Parisien, over the summer, the capital club showed interest in Olympique Lyonnais midfielder Houssem Aouar. PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi meet with Lyon owner Jean-Michel Aulas to discuss a potential deal.
However, with the coronavirus pandemic affecting Les Parisiens’ ability to splurge, they couldn’t the price that Lyon was asking for, much like other clubs has he remained with Les Gones.
Nonetheless, the summer flirting that PSG had with the 22-year-old midfielder will leak into 2021. RMC Sport reports that both parties will resume talks in the Spring of 2021.
Al-Khelaifi leads the charge for Aouar, but the French media outlet also adds that PSG sporting director Leonardo approves of this tracking. The Brazilian understands that the capital club needs more French players who meet talent cand UEFA criteria to compete in the Champions League (eight players trained in France in the workforce).
Plenty of PSG supporters have wanted the club to raid Ligue 1 of its talent. We will see if it begins with Aouar.
