Paris Saint-Germain is heading into the stretch run regarding the contract dilemma situation of Neymar. The club wants to resolve the Brazilian’s contract situation by the time the next summer transfer window approaches. PSG’s board does not want to face the risk of possibly losing Neymar on a free transfer following the 2021/2022 season.

PSG is eyeing a contract extension agreement with Neymar, but the Brazilian wants guarantees from the club before he commits to such a deal, according to a report from Le Parisien.

Neymar wants to know more about where the team is headed over the upcoming seasons. Per the report, the Brazilian forward wants guarantees on the team’s approach to keeping the team competitive. For one, Neymar would prefer to know where PSG stands on its possible search for a new manager in the case that Thomas Tuchel does go on to leave the club following this season when his contract is up.

More so, the report adds that Neymar realizes that no other club will push for a move to sign him, considering both the hefty transfer fee and salary conditions that would come with orchestrating such a blockbuster move. And on the part of Neymar and his representatives, they would prefer to discuss all of this over a face-to-face meeting.

In essence, Neymar is all-in to staying with the club but also wants to remain on a competitive team that continues to be a serious contender in all competitions.
