Paris Saint-Germain is set to face Strasbourg in what will be the team’s last fixture before the upcoming mini winter break. However, the club may have to begin the game without Mbappe as he is not expected to start in this fixture, according to a report from Le Parisien.
Mbappe did not start in PSG’s recent fixture against Lille. The French forward played in 13 minutes off the bench and did not log a shot over his time on the pitch.
PSG manager Thomas Tuchel explained following the fixture why Mbappe did not earn a start against Lille.
“He played without problem on Wednesday [Lorient match],” Tuchel said. “He had pain 24 hours after the match, we don’t know why, because he didn’t feel anything after the match.”
Tuchel decided not to start Mbappe as a precaution and as Le Parisien adds, the French forward will now not start against Strasbourg. Mbappe is reported to be dealing with muscle pain along with fatigue from the recent lengthy run of games.
PSG does not want to take any risks with Mbappe’s slight muscle issue and would prefer to have him fully recovered by the time that the team returns to action following the mini winter break.
