Paris Saint-Germain forward Mauro Icardi has missed a bulk of games this season due to injury and may be in line to miss yet another fixture. Icardi will likely not be deemed fit enough to feature in PSG’s upcoming UEFA Champions League group stage fixture against Istanbul Basaksehir due to injury, according to a report from Le Parisien.
Icardi has missed PSG’s last two games due to a slight adductor injury that he suffered in training late last month. The injury is not deemed to be a significant one that will keep him on the shelf for quite a while. Instead, it is becoming apparent that PSG is evaluating Icardi’s adductor issue on a game-by-game basis.
If Icardi does go on to miss the contest against Basaksehir, PSG will finish Champions League group stage play without rolling out the forward for any game time over the six fixtures.
On the other hand, the report does provide optimism in regard to the status of midfielder Julian Draxler. He has been dealing with a hamstring injury over the past two months but is expected to be available for manager Thomas Tuchel in this upcoming fixture.
A win for PSG against Basaksehir will clinch the team Champions League Group H and a spot in the knockout stage.
