From an attacking standpoint, it was another frustrating outing for Les Parisiens. With Neymar not available for the contest due to injury and Kylian Mbappe being a late substitute, PSG finished with a mere one shot on target recorded, which came off of a Moise Kean attempt.
PSG went with another 3-5-2 setup but Lille countered with stout backline and midfield blocks to prevent the side from creating any clear-cut goal-scoring chances. And in the end, it worked for Lille as PSG totaled for eight shots and under 90 percent of passes completed.
The result for PSG drops the side back down to third place in the Ligue 1 standings. Meanwhile, Lille retakes first place at 33 points while Olympique Lyonnais is level at 33 points as well but sits at second place due to the goal differential tiebreaker.
In the big picture for PSG, Thomas Tuchel’s side has won just two of its last five league fixtures.
PSG will have one more league fixture upcoming before the mini winter break, which will come against Strasbourg later this week.
