For a player of Kylian Mbappe’s prowess, he is bound to garner criticism when his performances are not up to par. This has become the case to an extent as of late since the French forward is a game away from finishing the calendar year without scoring a goal in the UEFA Champions League competition. He did not score in last season’s knockout stage and has gone scoreless in the group stage over the ongoing campaign.
Nonetheless, Wilfried Mbappe, the forward’s father, is not buying into the criticism surrounding the PSG star. Mbappe’s father spoke further to Telefoot about his son’s play as of late and the current critiques about the forward.
“To say that it has no effect is not true,” Mbappe’s father said. “But that it touches us, it is not true no. What interests me is performance. So the performances are a little worse, but they are not what people want us to believe. Today, if we have to worry about players of the caliber of Kylian Mbappé, we will worry about a lot of players.”
Mbappe is one talent who can quickly turn it around with his play. More so, he will have a chance to silence the criticism surrounding his performances in the Champions League with a strong showing against Istanbul Basaksehir in the team’s last group stage fixture of the season.
