Paris Saint-Germain and Olympique de Marseille will meet again at the Stade Bollaert-Delelis in Lens for the Trophée des Champions in the latest installment of Le Classique. After their heated fixture back in September, there will be plenty of fireworks with a trophy on the line.
For a match that usually occurs to kick off the Ligue 1 season, the LFP confirmed that the matchup would happen on Wednesday, January 13, 2021.
Le Parisien specified that the match could be played in front of supporters depending on the health situation. Initially, the game was scheduled in Côte d’Ivoire. However, this meeting cannot take place on foreign soil due to sanitary conditions.
“After launching a consultation, the Board of Directors decided to organize this edition at the Bollaert-Delelis Stadium in Lens.”
As many already know, in the Trophée des Champions, the Ligue 1 champion goes against the Coupe de France winner. However, with the capital club winning both competitions; as a result, Thomas Tuchel’s squad will face last season’s runner-up Olympique de Marseille.
In other news, the Board of Directors of the LFP formalized the winter transfer market dates. This transfer window period will be from Saturday, January 2 to Monday, February 1, 2021.
