Former PSG and current Fluminense forward Nene is backing Neymar to stay on with the club.
Paris Saint-Germain is heading into what will be the stretch run of its contract extension dilemma with Neymar. For the moment, the club is overly concerned with the Brazilian’s ankle injury. But more so, the focus will continue to be on the club’s contract situation with Neymar, whose current deal is set to be up a year following this season.
For Nene, the choice is obvious to him. He believes that the Brazilian should stay with the club. Nene spoke further to Telefoot about why this dilemma should be an easy choice for Neymar.
“We see that he is a leader,” Nene said. “We see that his goal is to try to bring PSG and his teammates to the final victory in the Champions League. He really likes the city of Paris.
“Within the club, he wants to do this incredible thing [win the UCL] and why not become the best player in the world. I think he has to stay.”
Neymar has already assured the club’s board in public comments of his desire to stay on with PSG. But until he puts pen to paper on a new contract extension deal, there will continue to be vast rumors and speculation whether he will prolong his current stay at PSG.
