Paris Saint-Germain manager Thomas Tuchel has had his fair share of support and criticism as of late. For one, many have appreciated Tuchel for not only his success last season but also his ability to manage the team’s injury crisis this season. But on the other hand, critics of Tuchel claim that the German manager should be doing more to get the very best out of his team.
Former PSG defender Maxwell played under multiple managers during his time with the club. While Maxwell did not play under Tuchel, he very well appreciates what the German manager has brought to the club. He spoke to Telefoot La Chaine (via Le10Sport) about Tuchel and defended the German manager from critics.
“The relationship with the team, with the club, he is a coach who is demanding with everyone concerning performance,” Maxwell said. “He is a coach who knows how to motivate players a lot. I think he has demonstrated his qualities, he won everything in France, he reached the final of the Champions League. The team performed very well, he almost got to win the Champions League. He deserves a lot more credit, a lot more than he has now.”
Tuchel will now be facing another challenge in his current run with the club due to Neymar’s recent ankle injury and the fact that the team currently stands in third place in the Ligue 1 standings. This could be a make-or-break moment in his PSG tenure.
