Former Brazilian defender Cafu is well familiar with being on near unstoppable teams, and he believes that Paris Saint-Germain could reach this level if the board is able to add FC Barcelona star Lionel Messi.
The Argentine has been heavily linked with a departure away from the Catalan club. For one, PSG has been in the Messi headlines more as of late, especially following Neymar’s comments on aiming to reunite with the Argentine star. PSG adding Messi to pair up with Neymar along with Kylian Mbappe would create for a superteam in world football. And for Cafu (via L’Equipe), this possible move would make for a must-watch team.
“If Messi went to Paris-SG, with Neymar and Mbappé, it would be a very strong trio,” Cafu said. “PSG would cause a lot of problems for a lot of clubs and would become the team to beat in the world. Messi is a phenomenon. Messi who plays football is the most beautiful in the world. With the talent of Neymar and Mbappé, PSG would be practically unbeatable.”
Messi is slated to become a free agent following the ongoing season, which would then make him eligible to sign with any team on a free transfer agreement. It remains to be seen whether PSG will be among the more aggressive suitors in pursuit of the superstar forward, especially as any club would not have to post a transfer fee to acquire him.
