In Paris Saint-Germain’s recent Ligue 1 home fixture against Strasbourg, Angel Di Maria supplied forward Kylian Mbappe for an effortless goal that put the side up 2-0 in the fixture. The assist for Di Maria was his fifth in Ligue 1 this season and seventh in all competitions.
For Di Maria, he is continuing to inch closer to breaking a historic PSG record.
At the moment, Safet Susic is PSG’s all-time leader in assists with 103, according to the club’s official website. Susic recorded 103 assists over nine seasons at PSG, which put him at an average of 11.4 assists per season.
Di Maria has tallied 95 assists over his PSG career. In his six seasons with the club, he has notched multiple double-digit assist seasons, including over the last campaign when he totaled for 22 assists.
Di Maria could very well shatter this record during the early stages of the second half of the season. But of course, it will depend on how much playing time he ends up receiving from new PSG manager Mauricio Pochettino.
