7 PSG Players Nominated for UEFA Team of the Year

UEFA has unveiled its nominees for the 2020 UEFA Team of the Year, and it includes seven Paris Saint-Germain players.

PSG talents Neymar, Kylian Mbappe and Angel Di Maria are nominated as forwards for the UEFA Team of the Year. Neymar has been one of the top performers for PSG in all competitions this year with key goals against the likes of Borussia Dortmund and Olympique Lyonnais. Mbappe played a key role in PSG’s run to its first-ever UEFA Champions League final appearance last season, such as with his game-winning assist to Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting in the quarterfinal round against Atalanta. Di Maria was also a key contributor for PSG in its Champions League final run with a trio of assists in the knockout stage.

Marquinhos is the lone PSG midfielder on this shortlist. He made a trio of starts as a central defensive midfielder for PSG in the Champions League knockout stage last season.

Presnel Kimpembe and Juan Bernat were rolled out as nominees as defenders. Bernat has established himself as a reliable attacking full-back for the club, especially following his performances in the Champions League last season. Current Chelsea FC defender Thiago Silva is also a nominee thanks to his world-class play for much of the year for his now-former club in PSG.

As expected, Keylor Navas is up as a nominee due to his strong goalkeeping play for the club in all competitions this year.

This vote will be based on the player’s play over the calendar year. Fans will have the final say on the vote, as has been the case since 2012.
