‘We Did the Work, We Took the Points’ – Abdou Diallo Discusses PSG’s Victory Over RB Leipzig

In the most crucial game of the season (so far), Paris Saint-Germain manager Thomas Tuchel decided to reinforce the midfield against RB Leipzig’s threat.

Despite having two shots on goal and 37-percent possession, the capital club squeaked out a 1-0 win over the German club to leapfrog them into second place in Group H.

Although Abdou Diallo received harsh criticism for his performance in the first matchup against RB Leipzig in Germany, the 24-year-old performed much better at home in place of the suspended Presnel Kimpembe.

The France international played 90 minutes for Les Parisiens, where he had four clearances, one blocked shot, and went 34 for 41 on his passes with an 83-percent completion percentage.

Not the most eye-popping of numbers, but Diallo avoided the mistakes that have plagued him in recent matches. After the win, he spoke with PSG’s official website to discuss the capital club’s victory over RB Leipzig.

“It was a complicated match against a great team from Leipzig, but we knew it because it was already tough during Final eight (3-0 victory) or at home (1-2 loss), but the important thing is was to win today. All the points are good to take. We did the work, we took the points, and that was the essential. We have seen values , and we must remember it. This team has a soul, players who fight together, it must be emphasized,” Diallo said.
