As a substitute change, AS Monaco midfielder Cesc Fàbregas would become the hero after converting the penalty-kick to help complete the 3-2 come from behind victory by Les Monégasques over Paris Saint-Germain.
When Kylian Mbappé scored his second goal to make the score 2-0, it seemed as though they took their foot off the gas pedal. Perhaps they were caught thinking ahead to their matchday four fixture in the UEFA Champions League against RB Leipzig, at least that’s what Fàbregas speculates during his interview with Téléfoot.
“Did we think we would turn everything upside down at halftime? It was difficult then, but we hoped that if we scored a goal, then the confidence would change sides. We knew that they were thinking a lot about Leipzig, and we said to ourselves that they would perhaps reduce their aggressiveness in the second period,” Fàbregas said.
“It’s a good result and a good game on our part. And when I play, it’s important for me to do what I did today. For my confidence and my mind, this match will do me very well, that’s for sure.”
