Video: ‘Unfortunately, We Couldn’t Do It’ – Di María on PSG’s Loss To Leipzig

On matchday three of the UEFA Champions League group stage, Paris Saint-Germain lost at home to RB Leipzig 2-1 as the capital club is in danger of missing out on the knockout stages of the competition.

After this result, the capital club will need to pick up all three points in their remaining three fixtures of the Champions League group stage to qualify for the competition’s Round of 16.

With Neymar Jr. and Kylian Mbappé out, the offense fell on the shoulders of Ángel Di María, who got off to a good start scoring the opening goal for Les Parisiens. However, the Argentina international didn’t convert a penalty kick, which could’ve made the score 2-0.

This missed opportunity from Di María allowed for Leipzig to hang around and eventually score two goals to walk away with the win. After the match, El Fideo spoke with PSG’s official website to discuss the loss.

“There were many occasions on both sides, we opened the scoring, but they reacted. We have been able to create danger, but in this competition, when you don’t put the chances at the bottom, you can pay a lot of money,” Di María said. “After Gana’s red card, it was even more difficult, but in the first half, we could have been ahead on the scoreboard. Unfortunately, we couldn’t do it.”
